President Viktor Yuschenko has left for Donetsk region to study operation of local coalmines.
The presidential press service made this statement.
The presidents plans to visit Chervonoarmiiska-Zakhidna No.1 (Chervonoarmiisk, Donetsk region) and Zhovtnevyi Rudnyk (October Colliery) mines.
The main intent of the visit is learning about the situation with reforming the coalmining sector in general and in the region in particular, and with safety of mining operations.
The head of state will also take part in the ceremony of opening a contemporary centre of culture Planetarium and attend a solemn meeting devoted to the Miner’s Day.
As Ukrainian News reported, in June 18, Verkhovna Rada refused to raise the prestige of miners’ labour.
The first reading of draft law No. 1097-1 received 218 MPs’ votes when 226 votes required.
The bill was to ensure fair social protection of coal industry workers and attract young specialists to the sector.
