The Communist Party of Ukraine is accusing the Party of Regions of supporting President Viktor Yuschenko's policy of Ukraine's accession to NATO.
The party press service made this statement.
"The Party of Regions verbally advocating Ukraine's non-aligned status, but indeed they are doing all possible to gear up the process of drawing the country into NATO. It is the Party of Regions, who systematically votes for allowing NATO troops onto the territory of Ukraine and connives at [President] Yuschenko's regime of realizing the course of turning Ukraine into a buffer state, connives at critical exacerbation of relations with Russia," the statement says.
The party also stresses, that the National Security and Defense Council documents related to Euro-Atlantic integration are passed with participation of the NSDC secretary Raisa Bohatyriova, who is member of the Party of Regions.
The Communist Party also accused leaders of the Party of Regions of the intention to form a new coalition together with the president's environment before the parliament leaves for vacations.
"In this case all of the administrative, judicial, and executive power would fall into hands of the Yuschenko-Baloha tandem. Moreover, Verkhovna Rada would become a hostage of the president's willfulness, who would then be able to dismiss it in any moment," communists think.
They also condemn the Party of Regions for not being severe on Georgia because of the events in South Ossetia.
"The Party of Regions bonzes did not condemn the genocide of Georgia's nationalistic regime and, in fact, took Yuschenko's side," the statement reads.
The Communist Party states that the Party of Regions and President Yuschenko with the Secretariat together are preparing to carve power and property in Ukraine.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Verkhovna Rada deputy, leader of the Crimean chapter of the Communist Party Leonid Hrach anticipates secession of Crimea from Ukraine if the country joins NATO.
The Alliance will consider the issue of Ukraine's joining to the NATO Membership Action Plan at its summit in December.
