Zaporizhia city council intends to hold inventory of land plots under municipal properties on the territory of Khortytsia Island national natural reserve in Zaporizhia by 2009.

The city council noted this in its decision.

In compliance with the draft Program on development of the natural reserve territory, the inventory would allow setting order in use of land plots on the island, and also defining borders of plots belonging to other users.

It will also stop unwarranted use of land on Khortytsia.

The inventory will be held by the department of land resources in Zaporizhia.

In particular, it is planned to hold inventory of land plots under municipal roads and housing constructions, Central Hospital No.10 in Ordzhonikidze district, and Bi municipal theater-laboratory.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, in May, the Cabinet of Ministers appointed Vice Prime Minister Ivan Vasiunyk as the chairman of the supervisory board of Khortytsia Island to replace former Deputy Culture and Tourism Minister Valerii Stasevych.

Culture and Tourism Minister Vasyl Vovkun is the deputy chairman of the supervisory board.

In March, President Viktor Yuschenko urged the Cabinet of Ministers to endorse the state program on development of the natural reserve until 2012.

Besides, Yuschenko urged the government to stop illegal land use on the territory of the natural reserve and elaborate a detailed plan of the economic territory of the island with participation with Zaporizhia city council by July 1.
