He said this addressing a press-conference.
"I think the negative factor today is foreign capital growth in the Ukrainian banking system which amounts to 40.5%", he said.
Increase in loan and deposit rates also has a negative impact on the banking system, Suhoniako said.
He predicts further growth of the banking system.
"We have good prospects before the year is out and good grounds for developing the banking system", he said.
Yet, he noted, the growth rates of the Ukrainian banking system are slowing because of the crisis on international financial markets, and this is a positive factor.
As Ukrainian News reported, the Association of Ukrainian Banks unites over 120 banks and five regional bank unions: Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Crimean, Odesa bank unions and also bank association of Lviv region.
The Association of Ukrainian Banks was created in 1990.
According to NBU, a share of foreign capital in the banking system increased by 5.0 percentage points to 40.5% in June.
