Russia Asks Ukraine To Explain Decision To Impose Entry Ban On Russian MP Zatulin (15:40, Friday, July 25, 2008)

Russia has asked Ukraine to explain the decision to ban Konstantin Zatulin, a deputy in the State Duma (the lower house of the Russian parliament) from entering the country.

The Russian embassy in Ukraine announced this in a statement.

The Russian embassy sent to the Ukrainian Foreign Affairs Ministry a note in which it expressed deep concern at the decision of the Ukrainian government.

The embassy believes that the decision to ban Zatulin from entering Ukraine will not facilitate the strengthening of the atmosphere of trust and mutual understanding between Ukraine and Russia.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Security Service of Ukraine has banned Zatulin from entering Ukraine.

The Security Service of Ukraine earlier warned Zatulin for making anti-Ukrainian statements.
