The European Party accuses the Justice Ministry of attempts to liquidate the party.
Ukrainian News learned this from a statement by the press service of the European Party.
"In our opinion the Justice Ministry is realizing an order on liquidation of our party and discredit of a new in quality European political force in the eyes of the Ukrainian and international community," the statement reads.
According to information available to the party, one of deputies of Justice Minister Mykola Onischuk in July issued a number of orders on checks at structural branches of the European Party.
These checks have been held in Zhytomyr region, Kyiv region, and Kyiv.
Checks are underway in Mykolaiv region and Odesa region.
The European Party is bewildered at the checks, since the party is one of founders of the Our Ukraine - People's Self-Defense Election Bloc and a representative of the bloc heads the Justice Ministry.
The party does not rule out that the aim of the checks in regions is to annul the registration of the political party.
"We assess the intentions of the Justice Ministry to hold the check of the European Party of Ukraine as nothing more than a political order," the statement reads.
The European Party of Ukraine claims its high principles in the matter of observation of the law in all kinds of activities. The party is intending to continue its active advocating of European values in the country in spite of any barriers.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, after the early elections to the Verkhovna Rada in September 2007 the European Party claimed posts at the State Tax Administration, Justice Ministry, and the Nature Ministry.
