Interior Minister Yurii Lutsenko says the Kharkiv city prosecutor has banned City Council Secretary Hennadii Kernes from leaving the city.
Lutsenko told this during an Internet conference on the Web site of the People's Self-Defense movement.
"I have been informed that the prosecutor of Kharkiv issued an order banning Mr. Kernes from leaving the city," Lutsenko said.
The prosecutor issued the order in the frames of a criminal case investigated by the city prosecutor's office, Lutsenko said.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, police on July 22 arrested Kernes for interrogation in a case on murder.
In the morning of July 23, Kernes failed to come to the Ministry of Interior Affairs as a witness.
The Ministry of Interior Affairs said it was intending to interrogate Kernes on four criminal cases.
Kernes said the arrest represented Lutsenko's desire to settle accounts with him.
