Ukraine is prepared to political association with the European Union, President Viktor Yuschenko told reporters.
"Ukraine is ready to develop more qualitative and dynamic relations with the EU, we are prepared for a higher and newer level of our relations", he said.
According to the president, cooperation between Ukraine and the EU in most fields is far beyond the frames of a simple neighborhood.
"That is why we are interested in associated membership and economic integration as a prospect for fostering our relationship", Yuschenko said.
He spoke about facilitating the dialogue between Ukraine and the European Union on working towards a new enhanced agreement.
A September Ukraine-EU summit in France is expected to approve a joint negotiation progress report, Yuschenko said.
"We are planning to fix the previously reached political agreements, especially after the latest round of negotiations", the president said.
Among the achievements he mentioned the EU agreement to start official negotiations on a non-visa regime for Ukrainian citizens to EU member countries.
The president understands that Ukraine should do a lot to strengthen her positions in the talks, and he will personally do his utmost in this direction.
As Ukrainian News reported, the EU decided to name a new enhanced agreement with Ukraine as an association agreement.
