President Viktor Yuschenko thinks that the reason behind the inflation in the first half of 2008 was internal economic policy pursued by the Cabinet of Ministers.
He said this addressing a press-conference.
"Please, do not believe anybody who wants to persuade that inflation in Ukraine was affected by external factors. The failure is in the principles of national priorities and internal economic policy", he said.
The head of the state thinks external economic factors could not affect inflation growth by over 1.5-2%.
Ukraine showed the highest inflation rate in Europe and CIS over the mentioned period, the president stressed.
The situation with the balanced macroeconomic figures is likely to be settled only by introducing corresponding amendments to the budget, Yuschenko said.
As Ukrainian News reported, the World Bank worsened inflation forecast in Ukraine from 17.2% to 21.5% (from December to December) for 2008.
The Cabinet of Ministers worsened inflation forecast from 15.3% to 15.9% for 2008.
According to the State Statistics Committee, the June inflation stood at 0.8%, while in January-June 15.5%.
