The General Prosecutor's Office thinks David Zhvania, a Verkhovna Rada deputy of the Our Ukraine - People's Self-Defense Bloc faction, attempts to hamper investigation by refusing to give testimony about President Viktor Yuschenko's poisoning.
Ukrainian News learned this from the press-release circulated by the General Prosecutor's Office.
Upon arrival at questioning, Zhvania, abusing his status of people's deputy, tried to find any grounds and left the room of an investigation officer without permission, the General Prosecutor's Office noted.
He did not react to repeated remarks of the investigation officer on illegal and unreasonable behavior, and refused to be questioned thus contravening the provisions of the Constitution, the Code of Criminal Procedure and the law on the Status of People's Deputy of Ukraine, the press-release says.
The General Prosecutor's Office considers Zhvania's behavior as contempt of the justice, the laws of Ukraine and an attempt to hamper the investigation into the criminal case.
"Zhvania is making numerous and groundless statements in the mass media denying Yuschenko's poisoning. But he avoids giving related evidence and proofs of his viewpoint", the statement says.
The press-service of the General Prosecutor's Office claims that Zhvania's provocative actions could not hamper the investigation group to establish the issue in the case of Yuschenko's poisoning.
As Ukrainian News reported, Investigator of the Prosecutor's General Office Oleksii Donskoi admits that Verkhovna Rada deputy of the Our Ukraine People's Self-Defense Bloc faction Davyd Zhvania disrupted questioning either being afraid or involved in poisoning of presidential candidate Viktor Yuschenko.
Zhvania refused to give testimony at the PGO on Wednesday.
He said that it was another act of derision and he did not want to here all that.
On May 30, Zhvania told the Radio Liberty that Yuschenko was not poisoned.
The General Prosecutor's Office insists on Yuschenko's poisoning in 2004.
