On July 25, will start raising of fore of the Volgoneft-139 vessel, which sank in Kerch strait, Crimea.
Chairman of the Crimean republic environmental committee Yevhen Bubnov told the press.
"The fore of Volgoneft will be raised on Friday. To hold the operation, Russia sends a pontoon to transport the vessel to the Russian shore," Bubnov said.
He also said that the tanker is almost empty from oil products.
"There is a slight layer of oil on the inner sides of the vessel, as most part of the oil cargo was pumped out in 2007," Bubnov said.
He also said that Vera Voloshina vessel, which was damaged in the storm near Sudak, is to be utilized in Sevastopol soon.
Bubnov said that the sunken vessels are obstacles for navigation, thus Ukraine is asking Russia to raise them from the bottom of Kerch strait.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, in November 2007, Storm smashed in the Kerch Strait the Volgoneft-139 tanker (it was carrying 4,000 tons of fuel oil); the Volnogorsk and Nakhichevan dry-cargo ships carrying sulfur also sank; the Vera Voloshina dry-cargo ship was grounded near Cape Mehanom in Sudak district; the Izmail dry-cargo ship sank near the cost of Sevastopol (it was carrying scrap metal); the Kovel dry-cargo ship flying Russian colors sank in the southern part of the Kerch Strait (it was carrying 2,100 tons of sulfur).
