Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and the Russian Gazprom gas company’s Board Chairman Aleksey Miller will discuss on Tuesday the principles for Ukrainian-Russian relations in the gas industry in 2009 and in the long-term future.
Tymoshenko and Miller announced this at the start of a meeting.
“I think that we should discuss the long-term future today,” Tymoshenko said.
Miller said that Russia was satisfied with the dialogue with Ukraine’s Naftohaz Ukrainy national joint-stock company on issues related to “return of physical volumes of Russian natural gas” and the volumes of transit of natural gas to Europe.
Tymoshenko and Miller expressed satisfaction with the constructive bilateral dialogue.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Gazprom said in late June that the price at which natural gas is delivered to Ukraine could exceed USD 400 per 1,000 cubic meters in 2009.
The Ukrainian Fuel and Energy Ministry is forecasting that long-term agreements on delivery of natural gas to Ukraine will be signed with Gazprom in the October-November period.
