AeroSvit Resumes Kyiv-Sofia Flights (18:11, Thursday, July 3, 2008)

The largest Ukrainian passenger air carrier, AeroSvit, has resumed Kyiv-Sofia flights.

AeroSvit press secretary Serhii Kutsyi told Ukrainian News.

"Currently, a plane is being prepared for the flight. It will fly Kyiv-Belgrade-Sofia," Kutsyi said.

He also said that as far as Sofia airport runway is not open yet, the plane will fly to Belgrade and then to Sofia.

If the runway is not open after taking off in Belgrade, the plane will land in another Bulgarian city, and passengers will be brought to Sofia by another transport.

According to the foreign mass media, at about 6:40 am, July 3, series of powerful blasts occurred at one of the ammunition depots in Bulgaria.

Information about destructions and victims has not been received yet.

Earlier, AeroSvit suspended Kyiv-Sofia flight due to the blasts in Bulgaria.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, 37.96% stake in AeroSvit closed joint-stock company belongs to Dutch Gilward Investments B.V., 24.99% to GenAvia Invest company and 22.39%, to the State Property Fund.
