The Bohdan Corporation is intending to build a full-cycle production bus plant in Belarus.
Serhii Krasulia, the press secretary for the corporation, told this to Ukrainian News.
He said Corporation President Oleh Svynarchuk and Belarusian First Deputy Premier Vladimir Semashko this week agreed to set up a joint ad hoc team to draw up a feasibility report of the new plant within three months.
The sides are considering several options of the location of the production facilities of the plant. Probably, the plant will be built in one of free economic zones of Belarus.
Krasulia said Bohdan was intending to build a plant with a capacity of 2,000 buses a year to meet the needs of the Belarusian market first and foremost.
The corporation has yet to decide which models it will produce in Belarus in the event of the project realization.
Krasulia said the creation and development of production facilities abroad was one of the strategic goals of the corporation.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Bohdan Corporation in July 2005 started semi knockdown assembly of its buses at the Gomel car repairing plant (Belarus).
Bohdan and the Ukravto corporation is building a plant in Nyzhny Novgorod region of Russia to produce buses and cars.
On June 20, Bohdan commissioned a car plant in Cherkassy.
Twenty companies producing and selling cars, trucks, and buses, including the Lutsk automobile factory and the Cherkasy Bus factory (the producer of the Bohdan buses), founded the Bohdan corporation in February 2005.
The corporation produces Bohdan buses at Cherkassy Bus plant and LuAZ, as well as cars and commercial cars Hyundai, Kia, VAZ at the LuAZ plant.
