President Viktor Yuschenko has said that Ukraine's membership of NATO will strengthen the collective security model.
Ukrainian News learned this from the presidential press service.
"The collective model of security will become much stronger with Ukraine. And this is a collective interest," Yuschenko said at a meeting with Danish Foreign Minister Per Stig Moller.
The President said Ukraine's membership of the European Union will produce a similar effect.
"When we are talking about the Ukrainian policy of integration with the European Union, we say that it will make the voice of Europe stronger. Every year poses challenges like this, both political and economic, and they can be dealt with only when you have a consolidated position," he said.
Yuschenko has thanked Moller for the position of his country and his personal efforts toward Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic integration.
The officials have discussed bilateral cooperation in political, economic and humanitarian areas, Denmark's support of the Ukrainian effort to receive international recognition for the 1932-1933 Holodomor as an act of genocide against the Ukrainian nation.
Moreover, the parties have discussed the revitalization of political dialogue between their states at the highest level to be buoyed by the visits of Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen and Queen Margrethe II of Denmark to Ukraine.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Denmark is going to support the ambition of Ukraine to join the European Union and NATO.
