Snap election of the Verkhovna Rada is possible in late 2008 or early 2009, Presidential Secretariat Head Viktor Baloha said in interview with TV channel 1+1 on May 18.
In his opinion, the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc has actually reconciled itself with its loss in the May 25 mayoral elections in Kyiv.
Now the BYT has two variants: to frustrate the ballot or organize a new Maidan protest, Baloha says.
Implementation of the second variant has already started, he added.
"The BYT wishes new parliamentary ballot this year already," he said.
If the situation remains unchanged, early parliamentary elections are possible, Baloha predicts.
At the same time, he emphasized that neither the society nor political forces wish a new snap election.
As Ukrainian News reported, President Viktor Yuschenko says early parliamentary elections and coalition reformatting are out of the question.
