The State Customs Service has warned that import duties of the World Trade Organization are valid from May 16.
The Customs press service has announced this.
Since Ukraine has acceded to WTO, beginning from May 16 WTO import duties are charged when goods cleared through customs, until the Verkhovna Rada passes the law "On amending the Law On Customs Tariff".
Customs turns attention that in keeping with Article 7 of the "Law on foreign economic activity" the WTO member states receive most assistance in levying duties, fees, rules and formalities related to importation.
This means that any advantage or privilege given to a commodity from any state must be immediately and necessarily provided to similar commodity originated from the WTO member states, with which agreements on most assistance were signed.
Import duties, affixed by the customs tariff in March 2007, remain the same.
As Ukrainian News reported, on May 16 Ukraine became a member of the WTO.
