Parliamentary committee for economic policy is recommending that the Verkhovna Rada take as basis draft law "On purchasing goods, labour, and services at the state's cost", brought in by the Cabinet of Ministers.
Ukrainian News has learned this from the Rada administrations' information department.
According to the statement, the committee is recommending the bill because it introduces legal and economic basis for the procedure of procurement complying with similar norms of international laws, specifically of the European Union within frames of Ukraine's admission to the World Trade Organization, the committee members think.
Also members of the committee supports the Presidential Secretariat's proposal to create an independent collegial organ, which would deal with complaints for government purchases.
"[Such an initiative] must ensure independent and considered approach to studying disputable questions of government procurement," they believe.
The committee stands for establishing the central authorized body of executive power to secure implementation of economic policy, as the corresponding bill suggests.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, May 12 parliamentary faction of the Our Ukraine - People's Self-Defense bloc said that the Verkhovna Rada should finalize the draft law on government procurement, submitted by the Cabinet of Ministers.
With this bill the Cabinet of Ministers proposed that the Verkhovna Rada authorize the Economy Ministry to make procure goods, labour, and services at the state's cost.
