Transport and Communications Minister Yosyp Vinskyi does not rule out a raider attack on the Illichivsk Maritime Merchant Port or other Ukrainian ports.
He told this to the press on May 13.
He said the Transport and Communications Ministry had information on preparations for raider attacks on the Illichivsk port and other ports.
"There is information that all of large ports are cases of study, not only the Illichivsk port, but also Odesa, Mykolaiv ports and others," he said.
He said the Transport and Communications Ministry was making efforts of legal character not to allow legal grounds for actions of that sort.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, about 300 unidentified people seized the administrative building of the Pivdennyi merchant seaport on April 25, citing a ruling issued by Donetsk's Voroshylivskyi district court. However, they left the territory of the company in the early hours of May 7.
In November 2007, the Transport and Communications Ministry said Illichivsk seaport was blocked by six buses of men.
The Illichivsk merchant seaport is one of the biggest Ukrainian ports.
The port water area is 12,000 hectares.
The port was founded in 1958. It is an element of the ninth international transport corridor of the European Union and the corridor "Baltic-Black Sea."
