Our Ukraine-People's Self-Defense Bloc Considers Disruption Yuschenko's Speech At Rada As Disrespect To Office Of President (16:02, Tuesday, May 13, 2008)

The faction of the Our Ukraine-People's Self-Defense Bloc has assessed disruption of President Viktor Yuschenko's annual speech to the Verkhovna Rada by the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko on Tuesday as disrespect to the office of president of Ukraine.

Faction Leader Viacheslav Kyrylenko gave the position of the bloc.

"Disrespect to the office of the president has been shown, to the highest office elected by people, the office of the head of the state and to the constitutional duty of the president," he said.

He said the faction of the Our Ukraine-People's Self-Defense Bloc did not expect the blocking of the delivery of the speech.

"Yesterday [May 12] at a meeting of the conciliatory council there were no objections from any of the political forces to the realization this intention of the president of Ukraine. Today's blocking was an absolutely unexpected phenomenon for us," Kyrylenko said.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, on Tuesday, the Verkhovna Rada closed its morning session, as the rostrum of the parliament was blocked by the faction of the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko.

The Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko is intending to block the work of the parliament until three anti-inflation laws are adopted there.

Yuschenko was scheduled on May 13 to deliver his annual speech to the Verkhovna Rada.
