A new study by Deloitte, commissioned by Telenor in 2007, provides hard fact figures of the mobile industry’s impact on the Ukrainian economy. Analysis from a total of almost 60 countries, including Ukraine, suggests that the dynamic effect of a 10% increase in mobile penetration would increase the long term GDP growth rate of a developing country by 1.2%.
In Ukraine, Deloitte has found that access to mobile communications can improve information flows within companies and between buyers and sellers; increase work flexibility, and promote business in previously underserved rural areas.
There will be a press briefing after the seminar, starting at 12:00.
Headquartered in Oslo, Norway, Telenor is an international provider of high quality telecommunications, data and media communication services. Telenor’s primary investment in Ukraine is Kyivstar G.S.M., the country’s largest and the most dynamic national mobile operator. Telenor owns a controlling 56.5% stake in Kyivstar.
