Yuschenko Calls To Improve Material And Social Conditions Of Great Patriotic War Veterans For State Funds (18:06, Thursday, May 8, 2008)

President Viktor Yuschenko has called to improve for state funds the material and social conditions of veterans of the Great Patriotic War.

Ukrainian News learned this from a statement by the presidential press service.

Yuschenko gave his position to the press in Donetsk region.

Yuschenko said the memory about the heroism of the war generation was consolidating the nation.

"Days like today, tomorrow do their colossal job for the consolidation of the nation, for peace in the country, and for forming common views and priorities of tomorrow," the presidential press service quoted Yuschenko as saying.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, President Viktor Yuschenko has reminded the Ukrainian society that it has an irredeemable debt to the perished soldiers and veterans of the Great Patriotic War.

Yuschenko will celebrate the Victory Day with veterans in Kyiv on May 9.
