President Viktor Yuschenko has reminded the Ukrainian society that it has an irredeemable debt to the perished soldiers and veterans of the Great Patriotic War.
Ukrainian News learned this from the presidential press service.
Yuschenko made this statement during the events organized to mark the 63rd anniversary of the WWII Victory at the Savur Grave Memorial in Snizhne town, Donetsk region.
"The victory over nazism has predetermined the future not only of our nation, but the entire humanity. Your exploit saved the world from the worst of totalitarian regimes, gave the way to our freedom, democracy and peace," the press service quoted the President as saying.
Yuschenko has promised that Ukrainians will never forget this exploit and will take care of every veteran.
"It is a duty of every citizen today, a duty of our memory to the soldiers who died for Ukraine," he said.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, on May 7, Yuschenko left Kharkiv region for Donetsk region to meet with WWII veterans.
Yuschenko will celebrate the Victory Day with veterans in Kyiv on May 9.
