Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has ordered Interior Minister Yurii Lutsenko and Acting Chair of the Security Service Valentyn Nalyvaichenko to launch immediate investigation into the publication and spread of a false issue of the Vechernie Vesti newspaper bearing an interview with her and First Deputy Prime Minister Oleksandr Turchynov, who is running for the Kyiv mayor post.
Ukrainian News learned this from the Cabinet of Ministers' press service.
Tymoshenko ordered Lutsenko and Nalyvaichenko to find those who had initiated the false publication, and produce a relevant reaction to the incident.
The prime minister ordered the interior minister and the acting security chief to report to the Cabinet of Ministers on the results of their inquiry before May 12.
As Ukrainian News reported, earlier Turchynov claimed his opponents had released a false issue of the Vechernie Vesti.
He also complained of provocations against him on the part of the headquarters of his opponent, incumbent mayor Leonid Chernovetskyi.
The Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc named Turchynov its candidate for the post of Kyiv mayor.
Verkhovna Rada called early mayoral and city council elections in Kyiv for May 25.
