Tymoshenko Bloc Asking Medvedko To Open Criminal Case Against Baloha (15:43, Wednesday, May 7, 2008)

Verkhovna Rada deputies of the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc faction ask prosecutor general Oleksandr Medvedko to open a criminal case against head of the Presidential Secretariat Viktor Baloha.

BYT deputy appointed as the acting State Property Fund chairman Andrii Portnov disclosed this to the press.

He said that a number of Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc deputies sent a letter to the prosecutor general requesting to open the criminal case against Baloha.

Portnov said that the deputies will expect end of the 10-day term fixed by the legislation for consideration of the document, and if Medvedko does not support their request, they will address the court.

Portnov also said that the deputies have data on Baloha's involvement in illegal deforestation in Zakarpattia region.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Portnov had reported that his political force intended to address the Prosecutor's General Office requesting to investigate into Baloha's activity.

Baloha considers that BYT criticism directed against the Presidential Secretariat is an attempt to shuffle off defects in work of the Cabinet of Ministers on it.
