Ukrtelecom Gives WW-II Veterans 10 Free Minutes For Calls Within CIS On May 8 - 9 (13:51, Thursday, May 8, 2008)

Ukraine's major telecommunications company Ukrtelecom has given to WW-II veterans and people enjoying the same status ten free minutes of calls within the territory of Ukraine and the Commonwealth of Independent States on May 8 and 9, the company press service told Ukrainian News.

The calls may be made from home telephones, mail offices or call centers with a veteran's certificate and identification code produced.

Particularly, veterans can freely call to users of the following communication operators: Velton Telecom, Ucomline, Ukrtelecom (brand Utel, code 091), Telesystems of Ukraine (code 092), Golden Telecom (code 039), Ukrainian Mobile Communications (brand MTS, codes 050, 066, 095, 099), Ukrainian Radio Systems (brand Beeline, code 068), and Intertelecom (code 094).

At the same time, calls to the users of mobile communication operators Kyivstar (codes 067, 096, 097, 098) and Astelit (brand Life:), codes 063, 093) will be paid at the functioning tariffs.

As Ukrainian News reported, Ukrtelecom occupies 78.5% of the fixed telephony market, servicing over 10.1 million subscribers.

Since November 1, 2007 Ukrtelecom has been also providing mobile communication services in the UMTS standard under the Utel brand, servicing 14,000 subscribers as of March 31.

Ukrtelecom finished 2007 with a profit of UAH 267.193 million, having increased net revenues by UAH 107.762 million or 1.6% to UAH 6,809 million, on 2006.
