In April, the consumer prices grew by 3.1%, the State Statistics Committee reports.

Consumer foodstuff and soft drinks prices grew by 5.2%, the prices of housing and utility services reduced by 2.3%, health care services grew by 2.5%, transport by 2.5%.

In January-April the inflation rate totaled 13.1%.

Compared to April 2007, in April 2008 the inflation rose by 30.2%.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, in March, the consumer prices rose by 3.8% and by 9.7% over January-March.

In 2007 the inflation rate totaled 16.6%, in 2006 - 11.6%.

The Cabinet of Ministers has instructed the Economy Ministry to correct the macroeconomic forecast for 2008 to amend the 2008 national budget.

Developing the budget 2008, the Cabinet fixed inflation at 9.6%.

The International Currency Fund has downgraded outlook for the inflation rate in Ukraine for 2008 from 10.6% to 17.1% (December to December) and upgraded GDP outlook from 5.4% to 5.6%.
