The State Customs Service and the Association of International Haulers have concluded a deal to bring the procedures and terms of customs clearance of goods and transport vehicles at checkpoints and customs offices inside Ukraine to European standards.
Ukrainian News learned this from a statement by the press service of the State Customs Service.
On Tuesday, State Customs Service Chairman Valerii Khoroshkovskyi met with Valerii Chernenko, the head of the strike committee of the Association of International Haulers.
Khoroshkovskyi and Chernenko discussed the demands of the Association of International Haulers concerning introduction of European technologies of handling motor vehicles at container terminals of ports.
"We have reached agreement on all points of our demands toward the customs," Chernenko said.
Khoroshkovskyi said the State Customs Service had re-oriented the implementation of a five-year plan for reconstruction of the infrastructure of checkpoints for two years. The State Customs Service also drafted a Customs Code in compliance with European standards, drew up and introduced a new form of customs cargo declaration meeting European requirements.
"We have reached agreement on all questions because the proposals of the association are our job also. I mean we are already working on the realization of these very provisions," he said.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Association of International Haulers is intending to stop driving trucks into Kyiv if customs posts are moved out of the city.
The Association of International Haulers demands a zero taxation rate for transportations within Ukraine's territory.
