Parliamentary deputy Iryna Akimova of the Party of Regions faction regards payment of compensations to depositors of the former Soviet Sberbank as not influencing inflation rate in January and February.
She has announced this during an expert discussion devoted to hundred days of the Cabinet of Ministers' work.
"It is not correct to link any factors happened after January 1 directly with inflation of January and February," said Akimova.
She believes that the inflation rate may rise on payment of compensations to depositors after 2008.
"We can only speak about the announcement of the program of paying compensations in full volume may influence the inflation process late in 2008 and afterwards," said the deputy.
In her opinion, now they state non-fulfillment of the Cabinet led by Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko of the obligation to repay the savings in two years, as the funds allocated for this purpose in the budget make up 7% of the required amount.
As Ukrainian News reported, on March 25 Akimova criticized the Cabinet for ineffective anti-inflation program.
In January she forecast an inflation surge due to the payment of compensations to citizens for the depreciated deposits they kept at the former USSR's Savings Bank.
February 7 former first deputy prime minister and ex-minister of finance Mykola Azarov, who heads the Verkhovna Rada committee on finances and banking, grounded the January inflation of 2.9% with the start of paying compensations for deposits in the former USSR's Savings Bank.
December 18, 2007 the parliament appointed the Cabinet of Ministers led by eponymous bloc leader Yulia Tymoshenko.
Inflation was 2.7% in February and 2.9% in January.
