The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development considers necessary to develop insurance of currency rate risks in Ukraine.
EBRD director in Ukraine Kamen Zahariev has disclosed this to the press.
"... Ukrainian banks already need to develop capital markets, including hedging," he said.
As to Zahariev, bankers understand that the US dollar rate although being fixed, nevertheless this is temporary.
The EBRD representative also stressed that inflation is imported to Ukraine together with cheap dollars.
"Our economists agree with that a certain part of inflation is imported together with cheap dollars... it would be more balanced to switch over to currency basket," commented on Zahariev.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the EBRD had undertaken to finance over 161 projects worth EUR 3.2 billion in Ukraine as of January 2008.
