President Viktor Yuschenko has urged the Interior Troops of the Ministry of Interior Affairs to be beyond politics.
Yuschenko gave his position while congratulating the Interior Troops on the 16th anniversary on March 26.
The President gave priorities of the Interior Troops for the near future, including persistent execution of measures on the provision of the national security, maintenance of public order, protection of life and health of people, protection of rights and democratic freedoms of each person.
Yuschenko said the Interior Troops of the Ministry of Interior Affairs must be guided by the Constitution and the norms of European legislation while executing their missions, and be independent from interests of political forces and commercial structures.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, on May 25, 2007, President Viktor Yuschenko subordinated the Interior Troops to the president.
