President Viktor Yuschenko predicts that by 2010 public support of Ukraine's accession to NATO may raise to 60-70%.

Yuschenko voiced his opinion in his interview with the German TV channel ZDF.
He pronounced confidence that public support of Ukraine's entering NATO is growing, and may reach 60-70% in two years.
The president one more time stressed that Ukraine's adjoining the NATO Membership Action Plan and the membership in the Alliance itself bear no threat to the integral security system of Ukraine's neighbours, specifically of Russia.
The head of state underlined, almost all the political forces in the Verkhovna Rada declare support to NATO.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, 59.9% of Ukrainians are ready to vote against Ukraine's accession to NATO in case of an all-Ukrainian referendum held, according to results of a poll conducted by Public Opinion Foundation Ukraine February 20 - March 2.
With this 16.9% of the pollees said they are ready to back Ukraine's entering the Alliance at the referendum, 8.4% would not take part in the referendum, and 14.9% failed to answer.
On March 6 the Verkhovna Rada established that the decision on Ukraine's accession to NATO must be based on the results of a national referendum, which can be organized at the initiative of the people in accordance with the Law on National Referendums.
Ukraine asked NATO to consider the possibility of inviting it to join the NATO Membership Action Plan during the NATO summit that will take place in Bucharest, Romania in April.
