The Cabinet of Ministers is intending to introduce targeted monthly aid to disable pensioners, pensioners with incomplete service record, and pensioners who lost their breadwinners.
Ukrainian News learned this from the press service of Deputy Prime Minister Ivan Vasiunyk.
Under the chairmanship of Vasiunyk, the government committee on humanitarian aid and social policy has approved a draft resolution, which introduces targeted monthly aid to retirees who receive disability pensions, pensions on loss of breadwinner, and to those who are entitled to pensions while their service record is incomplete.
By this draft resolution, the committee proposed that the Cabinet set minimum payments to disable persons in the amount of at least UAH 481.
For persons who lost their breadwinners, UAH 481 will be paid if there is one person unable to work, UAH 577.2 if there are two persons unable to work, and UAH 721.5 if there are three and more persons unable to work.
Presently, the size of pension paid to people of the said category is UAH 284 after adjustment.
An additional UAH 1.03 billion in the 2008 national budget needs to be provided for payment of this kind of aid during the first nine months of 2008.
Pensioners are expected to receive targeted pensions as of April 1.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, President Viktor Yuschenko thinks the Cabinet of Ministers must review the 2008 national budget, particularly its pension and financial aid items, due to January-February inflation indicators.
