Interbank Hryvnia Rate Up By 4 Kopecks To 4.93 UAH/USD (17:00, Monday, March 24, 2008)

On Monday, the interbank hryvnia rate rose by 4 kopecks to 4.9300 UAH/USD after rising on Friday.

According to dealers of commercial banks, at the beginning of the trading session the quotations fluctuated within 4.9200-4.9500 UAH/USD, then fell to 4.9000-4.9400 UAH/USD and by the end of the trading session fell to 4.9100-4.9300 UAH/USD.

The National Bank of Ukraine did not enter the market.

According to market participants, most of the transactions were concluded at the exchange rate close to 4.9300 UAH/USD.

The hryvnia has risen by 2.38% from 5.05 UAH/USD on the interbank currency market since the start of this year.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the hryvnia rate fell by 0.099% from 5.0450 to 5.0500 UAH/USD in 2007.

The hryvnia rose by 0.099% from 5.0500 to 5.0450 UAH/USD in 2006.
