Ukraine is initiating signing of an agreement on visa free regime with Montenegro.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry press service disclosed this in a statement, a copy of which Ukrainian News has obtained.
As to the press service, the first in the history of Ukraine - Montenegro relations talks on consulate law issues were held in Podgorica on March 14.
The Ukrainian delegation was headed by director of the Ukrainian Foreign Affairs Ministry's consulate service department Serhii Pohoreltsev, the Montenegrin one by the head of Montenegro's Foreign Affairs Ministry consulate directorate Zelko Stomatovic.
The Ukrainian side suggested to sign an agreement on mutual visa free travels of citizens, as the valid agreement between the tow countries, signed by former USSR and Yugoslavia does not comply with modern demands.
The draft agreement was handed over to the Montenegrin side.
It foresees mutual visa free travels for owners of all kinds of passports for ninety days during each half-year.
As to the press service, now Ukrainians have right to enter Montenegro without visas for thirty days if having tourist voucher or a document proving the travel purpose.
The Montenegrin delegation announced the Ukrainian proposal to be acceptable in general.
The parties agreed in near future to gear up internal state procedures of preparing the agreement for signing.
Besides, the parties agreed upon speeding up the procedures required for opening Ukraine's general consulate in Podgorica.
As Ukrainian News reported, in June 2006 Ukraine recognized Montenegro as an independent state.
